18th and later

Image

take the cut

and ring it

I halve the year

with any palm

trade my formal

wear for the season

goring the branches

one stem for how

you sell your flowers

another crowd

burned into

the curved parts

when we mark

ourselves with ash

where veins

strip out

the vessels

wooden heart

left damp

on the dirt
